HEAD COACH TINA SLINKER
I think tonight the difference in the first half was Karen Lee. She did a tremendous job on the boards.
On Nicole Thomas
I thought her three point shot really broke their back. It was a great overall effort by her.
Karen Lee, 6-2 Post
We knew we would have a physical game with New Mexico State. They play really tough in the post. We had to rebound better this game than we did in Las Cruces to be successful.
(On scoring 15 points)
We tried to slow them down, which opened up things inside. I had some opportunities tonight and I was fortunate to make some shots. I came out a lot more relaxed tonight than I have in the past few games.
Jalie Mitchell, 5-10 Guard
We knew this would be a tough game. They are rivals from the Big West. We always seem to split with them every year. They play us really hard.
(On expanding the lead in the second half)
Coach Slinker advised at the half that we needed to be up by more than 10 points. We came out in the second half and rebounded a lot better and got some easy fast break points
