VIDEO: 33 Years On The Mic With Robb Coffey
Public Address Announcer Has Become Staple For Women’s Basketball
DENTON - A lot has changed in the Super Pit over the last 33 years, from the color of the stadium seating to the people occupying those seats on gameday. But even after so many years, one thing has remained the same - the resonant voice of public address announcer Robb Coffey.
Coffey, a North Texas graduate and longtime Mean Green supporter, has become somewhat of a trademark at women’s basketball games, entertaining fans with his charismatic narration of what takes place on the court.
But what keeps him going? Find out for yourself as one of the team’s longest supporters reflects on more than three decades behind the mic.
Mean Green fans will have the opportunity to catch Coffey in his usual courtside seat when the North Texas women’s basketball team kicks off a three-game home stand this week. That stretch will begin on Thursday, Jan. 21, with a 7 p.m. matchup against preseason Conference USA favorite Middle Tennessee.
