Denton, Texas • The Super Pit (10,302)
Radio: KNTU • TV: None
Series Record: NT leads 9-3
Last Meeting: NT 75, Troy 61 (3/3/12)
North Texas is coming off two tough back to back conference losses by a combined margin of four points. Returning to Denton, the Mean Green is looking to snap a five game skid against a three-win Trojan team that has lost two in a row including a conference match with Florida Atlantic that they lost by one point. Troy is 0-3 in conference play this season with its most recent loss coming at the hands of Mississippi State.
North Texas meets Troy for the first time since a first round match in Hot Springs, Ark., during the 2012 SBC tourney. North Texas took that game handily winning by 14. The Mean Green has maintained a heavy edge in the series that is now a 9-3 lead for North Texas overall.
NT's Stockins Full Of Dawkins
Sophomore BreAnna Dawkins notched a new career high after dropping 22 points against WKU in a team-high 35 minutes on the court. She went perfect from the line (8/8) and led the Mean Green's attack following the Alexis Hyder foul out.
Freshman Loryn Goodwin got the second start of her career against WKU and nabbed seven steals, her highest mark in that category since the New Mexico game in late November and second highest of her career. At her current pace, Goodwin will top the North Texas record book in the steal category with 103 steals and shatter the current freshman record of 82 set by Ramona Black in the 1987-88 season.
The Mean Green poured in 25 of 27 free throws against the Lady Tops, which is good for second best percentage of the season and fourth highest percentage in program history. The 92.6 percent showing was just short of the 92.9 percentfoul shot percentage by North Texas in Dallas early in the season against the Mustangs (13/14).
