SPRINGFIELD, MO. -- North Texas lost 63-54 at Missouri State Saturday afternoon. Seniors Kelsey Criner and Candice Adams led the Mean Green with 11 points each.

North Texas (3-7, 0-0 C-USA) committed a season low 11 turnovers and received 31 points from the bench but was out rebounded by 17 and gave up 18 points at the free throw line.

The Mean Green scored 13 points in each of the first three quarters and allowed 21 points in the first quarter to get off to a slow start. Following the first quarter, North Texas contained the Lady Bears (4-6, 0-0 MVC) to just nine second quarter points on 2-of-7 shooting. The Mean Green forced five second quarter turnovers to hold the Lady Bears within an arms reach. Right before halftime, the Mean Green went on a 9-0 run to get back into the game.

Early foul trouble also hindered North Texas. Criner was sidelined for much of the second quarter due to foul trouble. The team's leading scorer Terriell Bradley struggled with foul trouble and scored a season-low two points Saturday. Missouri State scored 10 more points at the free throw line than the Mean Green and took twice as many shots from the lin e. The Lady Bears went on a couple streaks of five minutes or longer without a field goal but maintained their lead with the free throws.

The Mean Green return home for their final non conference game. North Texas will take on Texas State Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the Super Pit.
