DENTON - Eboniey Jeter scored 26 points to lead the North Texas women's basketball team to a 75-74 overtime exhibition victory against Southern Arkansas on Thursday night in the Super Pit.

North Texas led by as many as nine points in the second half, but Southern Arkansas made it interesting in the final five minutes of the game. The Muleriders tied the game at 4:55 and then the two teams traded the lead several times before Joh'Vonna Darrington hit one of two free throws to tie the game and force overtime. Jeter scored the first five Mean Green points in the overtime period before Darrington hit the eventual gamewinner.

"You would rather have to compete because we are going to have to compete next Friday," said North Texas head coach Mike Petersen about winning large versus playing a close game. "Regardless of who you are playing, having to go through that and be in some possessions that mean something is a value. This did us a whole lot more good than beating the dog out of someone."

Jeter started the game and scored six points in the opening period before exploding for 15 in the second half and five in the overtime. She led the team with eight free throws and 11 rebounds.

Candice Adams hit the Mean Green's only two 3-pointers of the game, and she and Darrington both came off the bench to score in double figures.

"For me, these games are about gathering information and I thought we gathered a lot of information tonight," said Petersen.

The first half featured large runs by each team. North Texas would score 10 points in the final two minutes to go ahead, 33-30, at the half.
