DENTON – North Texas Athletics announced several revenue highlights Tuesday, including a record fundraising year with $8.9 million in cash and pledges secured by the athletic department. The record mark, which nearly doubles the previous high of $4.7 million) in department history, includes annual Mean Green Club donations, scholarship commitments, estate gifts and gifts to capital projects.

"I'm tremendously grateful for the generosity of the Mean Green Family, and the willingness to support our mission of Building Champions and Preparing Leaders," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker. "UNT alumni, fans and friends continue to demonstrate their passion and loyalty for the program. The foundation of support they provide has allowed us to invest in a comprehensive student-athlete experience. Their commitment is a big reason why North Texas Athletics is on the rise."

Football season ticket revenue is also up sharply, nearly 12 percent higher than 2016 and 18 percent over 2015. For the first time in Apogee Stadium’s seven-year history, all 21 private suites at Apogee Stadium are sold for the 2017 season. In addition, HUB Club season ticket sales were up nearly 7 percent compared to 2016. The total number of athletics donors also increased, totaling 1,081 for the 2016-17 year. North Texas sold 4,647 non-student football season tickets for 2017, an increase of just over 3 percent.

"North Texas fans have answered the call again, and we are truly humbled by the overwhelming support given to our student-athletes," said Executive Senior Associate AD for External Affairs Ryan Peck. "Our donors and season ticket holders are the lifeblood of our department, and we wouldn’t be able to share these milestones without their support."

Licensing and royalty revenue also hit an all-time high while seeing an increase of 9 percent for the fiscal year, totaling $321,569 in royalties and over $2.6 million in total sales. North Texas ranked second out of nine Conference USA IMG College Licensing partners in royalties for 2016-17.

"We are excited to see across the board increases in our revenue stream," said Baker. "We will remain focused on growing our donor base and season ticket base which is critical to meet our strategic goals. I am confident Mean Green Nation is up to the challenge."
