Natasha Oakes Named Senior Associate AD For Compliance
Oakes Comes To UNT From Missouri Western State University
DENTON – North Texas athletics announced Monday the hiring of Natasha Oakes as senior associate athletic director for compliance. Oakes will oversee all areas of NCAA, Conference USA and institutional compliance for all 16 Mean Green athletics teams.
"We are very excited Natasha is joining our leadership team," Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. "During the interview process, Natasha demonstrated all of the qualities we desired in our senior associate AD for compliance. She has a tremendous reputation and will be a great asset to our department, the UNT campus and the greater Denton community."
Oakes is joining North Texas from Missouri Western State University, where she was the associate AD for internal operations and Senior Woman Administrator. She was a member of the athletics senior staff and had direct sport supervision over five teams while overseeing compliance needs for all of the Griffons sports programs.
"I am incredibly excited and grateful to Vice President Baker and the rest of the staff for the opportunity to join the Mean Green family," Oakes said. "From the moment I arrived on campus, I could feel a great sense of warmth and energy from the coaches and athletics staff, as well as individuals from across campus. There are great things happening here and I am eager to be part of it."
Prior to her time at Missouri Western, Oakes worked for the NCAA as an assistant director of academic and membership affairs. She also spent time at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association as an assistant commissioner for compliance. She has been a part of several NCAA panels and leadership forums and has served on various NCAA compliance and legislation committees. Oakes earned her bachelor's degree in business from Emporia State University and is currently finishing work to earn her master’s degree in sport and fitness management from Missouri Western.
