Don January Golf Classic Raises $60,000 For Mean Green Scholarships
The 24th Annual Golf Tournament Is In The Books
May 12, 2014
The Mean Green athletics department recently enjoyed a great day of support and fun at the 24th annual Don January Golf Classic, which benefits the men and women’s golf teams.
Over 200 golfers played both courses at the Trophy Club Country Club on Monday, April 28th and more than $60,000 was raised for scholarships. Major underwriters for the annual event included Hub International, Ace and Hartford and they were joined by over 40+ sponsor-driven teams.
Matt Phillips, who organized the event for the athletic department, was very pleased with the amount of volunteer effort.
“The fact that we had a great blend of student-athletes on the course that day made it special," said Phillips. “We had representation from the golf teams as well as a few of the former players who won a Heart of Dallas Bowl Championship on the course. And, of course, we had Mr. January playing with the group from Hub and they had a blast.”
Next year will mark the silver anniversary of the vent that Mr. January lends his name to. Make plans now to be a part of the 25th annual Don January Golf Classic on Monday, April 13th at the Trophy Club Country Club. For more information, contact Matt Phillips at 940-369-8409.
