DENTON, Texas - The North Texas men's golf team signed one of the top players in the state of Texas as Preston Standley has inked a National Letter of Intent with the Mean Green on Wednesday.
Standley, from Plano West High School, was ranked by Golfweek as high as the second-best player in the state of Texas last year and No. 88 in the class of 2012 in the country.
"We are very excited to be able to sign a player the caliber of Preston," said head coach Brad Stracke. "I look forward to him being able to come in and play at the high level that the program is at and help us get even better."
Standley, was the 2011 District 8-5A District Champion and a 2011 All-State selection last year. Standley is a three-time all-district selection and the two-time Plano West Player of the Year. Last year Standley recorded a pair of top-20 finishes in AJGA events and three top-5s in Texas junior events.
