Strong Finish For Thompson As Mean Green Close Out Fall Play

TOLEDO BEND, La. (11/7/06) Freshman Dustin Thompson had a career-best finish to lead the North Texas men’s golf team in the final round of the Battle on the Bend. Thompson finished in fourth place after firing a final round of 75. He posted a two-round score of 2-over par 146 in the rain-shortened event.

 

North Texas as a team finished in seventh place with a two-round score of 610.

 

Junior Austin Welch rebounded in the second round with a 3-over par 75 and shot a 152. Harris Graham also had a 3-over par 75 and fired a two-round score of 154.

 

Junior Anthony Broussard struggled in the final round with an 84 to shoot a two-round score of 160. Wayne Bailey posted an 82 in the second round and a 170 score overall.

 

The Battle on the Bend is the final fall tournament for the Mean Green as they will next be in action on February 18-19 as they host the Club De Golf Santa Anita Classic.
