Mean Green Men's Golf Stumbles in Opening Rounds

Long Beach, CA (11-04-04) - The North Texas Men's Golf Team sits in 12th place after two rounds of play at the Del Walker Intercollegiate held at the Virginia Country Club.


The Mean Green shot a 297 in the opening round, but tripped in the afternoon and finished with a 308. Despite the high second round score, the Mean Green is only 33 strokes off the lead heading into the final round.


Leading the Mean Green is senior Jason Lindgren who opened the tournament with rounds of 74 and 75. Lindgren is in 28th place heading into tomorrow's final round.


Freshman Raul Lemus and junior Andreas Kali are both tied for 34th place. The pair both had an opening round of 72, but shot a 79 in the second.


In 64th place heading into the final round is Austin Welch. The freshman had rounds of 81 and 83 and sits at 20 over par.


Freshman Anthony Broussard was disqualified after an opening round of 79.


The Mean Green will return to action tomorrow for the final round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate.
