Rosenmueller Named C-USA Golfer Of The Week
Freshman Captured The Quail Valley Title
DENTON – After a record breaking tournament and victory, North Texas freshman Thomas Rosenmueller was named Conference USA Men’s Golfer of the Week. Rosenmueller won the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with a score of 12-under par and broke the school record for the lowest round by a freshman with a 63 in the second round.
The freshman finished with a final round of 1-under par 71 and won by two shots at 12-under par 204. It's the lowest 54-hole score posted by a North Texas golfer since Neil Collins posted a 203 in 1999.
Rosenmueller's win is the first by a freshman since Anthony Broussard in 2005. On Monday he shot a 63, which is tied for the lowest round in the nation this season.
Rosenmueller is the second NT golfer to win the weekly award, joining fellow freshman Ian Snyman, who won earlier in the year.
The pair of freshman have boosted the Mean Green’s ranking to No. 68 in the nation following the end of the fall season. The freshman class, according to Golfstat.com, ranks as the fourth-best in the nation.
