Hargis And Kincaid Shoot Season-Low Rounds

LONG BEACH, Calif. (10/16/08) North Texas freshman golfer Ben Hargis and senior Clarke Kincaid both notched season-low rounds at the opening day of the Del Walker Intercollegiate.  Hargis had an opening round of 1-under par 70 in the first round thanks in part to six birdies while Kincaid went even lower in the second round with a 4-under par 67.

Kincaid fired his 67 with a very clean scorecard. He notched three birdies, an eagle, and just one bogey in his second round. He rebounded from an opening round of 78 and sits with a 145 for the tournament. 

Meanwhile Lance Byars had the best day of all the Mean Green players with a two-round score of 144 and six birdies on the day. Byars is tied for 35th place after the first two rounds.  Hargis posted a second round of 75 and is tied with Kincaid with a 145.

Michael Lee shot a 6-over par 77 in the opening round and second round of 4-over par 75. Dustin Thompson, playing in his first tournament of the season, shot a 79 in the first round but rebounded with a 73 in the second round.

North Texas as a team shot 584 thanks to a 2-over par 286 second round. Colorado State shattered the opening day tournament record by 20 shots with a 33-under par 535 and well ahead of the field.

The final round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
