ST. CHARLES, MO (10/11/04) - A pair of freshmen leads the North Texas Men’s Golf Team after two rounds of play at the Missouri Bluffs Challenge.
The Mean Green sits in eighth place overall after freshman Anthony Broussard followed up a first round 74 with a one under par 70 in the afternoon round. Broussard’s second round score is his lowest since joining the Mean Green, and has him tied for 15th heading into tomorrow’s final round.
In his first action for North Texas, freshman Raul Lemus is tied for 18th place after 36 holes. Lemus shot a 75 in his first round, but matched his teammate Broussard with a second round score of 70.
“My freshman played really well, but there is room for improvement,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “We had our chances today, but we didn’t putt very well. We are just going to try and go out tomorrow and look to have a better round.”
Andreas Kali is tied for 34th place following rounds of 70 and 77, and Jason Lindgren is tied for 62nd after shooting 81 and 75.
Ried McPherson rounded out the field for the Mean Green, shooting rounds of 77 and 80 to end in a tie for 64th place.
The Mean Green will return to the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course for the final round of the Missouri Bluffs Challenge tomorrow morning.
