Fresno, Calif. (10/9/01) - The North Texas men’s golf team improved with each round of play at the Fresno Lexus Golf Classic last weekend, jumping from 11th place after the first two rounds to seventh in the final standings with a three-round score of 881.
The Mean Green shot a first-round 298 to open play at the tourney, but cut five strokes off that total on the second 18 holes and posted a season-low score of 290 for the final round. Fresno State finished first among the 16-team field with a score of 834. Stanford, Nevada and Pacific were the next closest finishers, tying for second place with an 874.
