No. 34 Mean Green Head to David Toms Intercollegiate
North Texas Tees Off Its Second Tournament Of The Year Saturday In Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - The North Texas men's golf team begins action in its second fall tournament of the season Saturday at the David Toms Intercollegiate, hosted by LSU at University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The No. 34 (according to Golf Week) Mean Green look to build off of a fourth place finish last month in the season opener at the Wolf Run Invitational in Zionsville, Indiana.
"The University Club is another demanding golf course," head coach Brad Stracke said. "There isn't a hole on the course where you stand on the tee and expect to have an easy birdie and this course should separate the field."
The five-man lineup comprised of sophomore Thomas Rosenmueller, sophomore Ian Snyman, senior Cory Churchman, sophomore Texas Tech transfer Devin Jackson and freshman Tobin Niblett will play 36 holes on Saturday and conclude the event on Sunday by playing 18 more. Another newcomer, Utah transfer Trent Hill will be playing as an individual. The five Mean Green golfers are slated to tee off on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start and fans can follow all of the action with live results here, courtesy of Golfstat.com.
Jackson, Niblett and Hill are slated to make their first appearances for the Mean Green this weekend.
The Mean Green will compete against a deep and talented field including host LSU, DePaul, Louisiana-Lafayette, Loisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Navy, Pennsylvania, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Western Carolina, Southeastern Louisiana and Central Arkansas.
