Mean Green Posts Second Round Comeback At ORU Shootout

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (9/29/08) A strong second round paced the North Texas men’s golf team after 36 holes of play at the ORU Shootout. The Mean Green had the second best round of the field in the second round with a 6-over par 294 and put North Texas within striking distance of the top three teams heading into the final round. 

The 294 for the Mean Green was the fourth best round of the day through the first 36 holes.

North Texas is alone in seventh place with a two-round score of 605, but just seven strokes separate the Mean Green from second place. Texas State is alone in first place after the first day with a score of 583.

Senior’s Clarke Kincaid and Nathan Sheen are the top two golfers for North Texas. Kincaid had and even-par second round of 72 after an opening round of 76. Sheen was steady both rounds with a 75 and a 76. Kincaid is tied for 13th place while Sheen is tied for 17th. Michael Lee rebounded after an opening round of 80 to post an even-par round of 72. He is one shot behind Sheen with a two-round score of 152.

Harris Graham fired an 80 and 74 in his first two rounds and is tied for 28th place. Freshman Ash Crawford had a tough afternoon with an 84 in the first round and an 81 in the second.

The final round of the ORU Shootout begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
