WACO (9/30/03) -- Senior Zach Atkinson bounced back with a three-under par 69 in Tuesday's final round of the 2003 Baylor Invitational to finish in the top 15 and lead North Texas to a 12th place finish in the team standings.
Atkinson finished the two-day tournament at the par 72 Bear Ridge Golf Club with rounds of 73-76-69 for a 218 total. He ended in a four-way tie for 14th place individually.
North Texas slipped one place in the team standings after the third round, landing in 12th place with rounds of 295-300-298 -- 893. Louisiana State captured the team championship with scores of 282-292-294 -- 868.
Lamar's Chris Stroud easily took the individual title with three sub-par rounds of 65-68-69 -- 202, eight strokes in front of runner-up Andrew Dresser of Texas Tech.
