Mean Green Finish In 13th In Iowa
BURLINGTON, Iowa -It was a cold and frosty day as the North Texas men's golf team wrapped up play at the Golfweek Challenge Conference as they shot a final round of 303 and finished in 13th place overall.
The Mean Green's final round score was 15-over par as they recorded a three round score of 907.
Carlos Ortiz and Curtis Donahoe both shot final rounds of 75 on the day. Ortiz tied with Rodolfo Cazaubon for the lowest three-round score of the tournament at 225. Ortiz had 15 pars in the final round but no birdies as he finished in a tie for 42nd.
Donahoe rebounded from a tough second round and cut 10 strokes off his third round score to shoot a 75. Cazaubon shot a third round of 4-over par 76 and finished tied with Ortiz for 42nd place.
Josh Jones posted a final round of 77 while freshman Juan Munoz fired a final round of 80. North Texas struggled for most of the tournament while Arkansas won the overall team championship.
North Texas returns to action on Friday as they play at the William Tucker Intercollegiate Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
