Lemus Fires Low Score For Individuals To Lead The Mean Green

ARLINGTON, Texas (9/22/09) - Freshman Rodolfo Cazaubon and senior Peter Fallon led the way for the North Texas men's golf team as they both fired tournament scores of 222 at the UTA Waterchase Invitational. The pair paced North Texas in the tournament as the Mean Green finished in seventh place with a final round of 304.

Individually Luis Lemus had the low tournament score for individuals with a three-round score of 3-over par 219.

North Texas finished ahead of both Sun Belt Conference teams in the field of 19 teams with a three-round score of 886. Rice captured the overall team title.

Lemus, returning to competitive golf for the first time in over 18 months,  actually had the best overall tournament for North Texas. After a final round of 2-over par, Lemus climbed to 13th place.  

Cazaubon shot a third round of 75 while Fallon had the best round of the day for North Texas with a 2-over par 74 in the final round. Both finished in a tie for 26th.

Freshman Carlos Ortiz was just a shot behind Fallon and Cazaubon as he struggled in his final round with a 79 but still shot a 223 for the tournament.

Dustin Thompson posted a 224 after a third round of 76 and Lance Byars a 226 after his final round of 79. Freshman Curtis Donahoe, also playing as an individual, fell off the pace in the third round with a score of 83.

North Texas has two weeks until returning to action at the Squire Creek Intercollegiate Oct. 5-6.
