SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - A strong final round propelled by two freshman lifted the North Texas men's golf team at the final round of the Northern Intercollegiate. Freshman Nick Rodriguez and Julien Marot each had their best round of the tournament with an even-par round of 72 and a 1-over par score of 73. Juan Munoz also turned in an even-par score of 72 as North Texas had the fourth lowest team score in the field of 15 teams.
The Mean Green ended in ninth place with a final round of 293. Gonzalo Rubio had the best three-round score for North Texas at 223 and he finished tied for 24th. Rodriguez was one stroke behind at 224 and tied for 29th. He was at 3-over par after his first nine holes, but a birdie and an eagle on the second hole sparked a 3-under par score on his back nine holes.
Cory Churchman had his best day of the tournament with a 4-over par 76. UCF captured the team title, winning by one stroke over Virginia.

North Texas had two players shoot even-par, where through the first two rounds the Mean Green had an even-par score only once.
