Mean Green Post Low Round Of The Day At The Cobb/Ferrell Classic

DENTON, Texas (9/8/08) A second round surge powered the North Texas men’s golf team at the first day of the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic. North Texas shot the best round of the tournament, a 3-under 285 in the second round and sit alone in third place after the first two rounds of the tournament, just eight shots off the lead heading into the final round.


“I was very pleased with our effort out there in the second round. We competed and got after it and you saw the results. We just have to carry that over to the final round,” said coach Jim Bob Jackson.


A trio of players for North Texas are tied for 14th place after two rounds. Nathan Sheen had the best round of the day for the Mean Green with a second round of 2-under par 70. Clarke Kincaid and Harris Graham both fired even-par 72 and are tied with Sheen at 146 after the first two rounds. Sophomore Michal Lee shot a 1-under par 71 in the second round and Lance Byars posted a two-round score of 150.


UALR holds the lead with a two-round score of 575 after the first 36 holes. Sam Houston State is second with a 579.


The final round of the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic begins tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.
