Sebastian Munoz Claims PGA Tour Card

Aug. 31, 2016

NORTH PLAINS, Oregon - Former North Texas men's golfer Sebastian Munoz earned his PGA Tour card over the weekend, finishing at No. 22 on the Web.Com Tour's money list. Each year, the top 25 earners on the tour are awarded their PGA Tour card for the 2016-17 season, and Munoz exploded onto the scene with a huge year to do just that.

Munoz's card was awarded after play at the WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft Heinz at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club (Witch Hollow) wrapped up this past Sunday. Munoz will compete alongside the other 24 card-holders in the four-day event Tour Finals, beginning next week at the DAP Championship in the Cleveland area, with an opportunity to improve his Priority Ranking for next season.

To kick off the season, Munoz captured the Club Colombia Championship, Presented by Claro to earn full Tour status.

Munoz, who went by Juan Munoz while competing for the Mean Green, played four seasons in Denton, from 2011-15. Munoz captured the 2015 Conference USA individual championship as a senior, while helping North Texas to a team conference title and automatic NCAA Championships bid as well.
