Aug. 24, 2014

DENTON - The storybook year for former North Texas golfer Carlos Ortiz continues as he captured his third Web.com Tour win by capturing the WinCo Foods Portland Open. With the win, Ortiz has earned his 2014-15 PGA Tour card, and he is also fully exempt on the PGA Tour for the year, a special perk available only on the Web.com Tour.

The win for Ortiz nets him $144,000 in the Web.com Tour regular season finale and he finishes as the tour money leader for the year. His overall winnings this season are $515,403.

Ortiz held on for a one-stroke win in Portland, shooting a 14-under par score to hold off Jason Gore and Adam Hadwin.

To go along with his win this weekend, Ortiz also captured the Panama Claro Open and the El Bosque Mexico title earlier this year.

Ortiz will join the PGA Tour for his first event in October at the Frys.com Open.
