Mean Green Finish Second, Lancaster Named All-Conference

NICEVILLE, Fla. - The North Texas men's golf team came up just short in their effort to repeat as Sun Belt Conference Champions with a final round score of 295 to finish in second place from the Bluewater Bay and Resort. The Mean Green had the third best round of the day, but New Mexico State pulled away with a final round of 286 to win the Championship.

The North Texas women's golf team closed out strong with a final round 319. Even more impressive was the play of sophomore Andra Lancaster who finished tied for third individually following a final round score of even-par 72. Lancaster ended the tournament with a three-round score of 223 and was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference team.

Lancaster just missed out on a playoff as she finished one-shot behind the eventual champion Lehua Wise of New Mexico State. Denver won the team championship over New Mexico State in a playoff.

North Texas had two golfers, seniors Zach Atkinson and Brad Gibson, finish in the top five individually as they both shot a three-round score of 218 following final round scores of 72. Atkinson was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference team for the second straight year while Gibson was also named to the team for the first time. Both ended the tournament tied for fourth place.

Weston Bingham fired a final round of 76 and finished tied for 13th place while Reid McPherson shot his third straight 75 to end in 20th place.
