Broussard Takes Second At The West Texas Amateur

ABILENE, Tex. (7/24/07) In what has been quite a successful off-season for the North Texas men’s golf team, senior Anthony Broussard turned in perhaps the best performance of the summer. Broussard, playing in the 79th annual West Texas Amateur at Abilene Country Club, shot a three-round score of 16-under par to finish as the runner-up by just one stroke.

Broussard scorched the course on the opening day with a 10-under par score of 61. He posted a back-nine score of 27 that included six birdies and one eagle. Broussard shot a second round score of 4-under par and a final round of 2-under but came up one stroke shy of the eventual winner Colten Williams of Baylor.

Broussard will now attempt to qualify for the U.S. Amateur on Thursday, July 26 at the Eagle’s Bluff Course in Bullard, Tex.
