Gibson And Broussard Finish Strong At Texas State Open

DENTON, Texas (7/21/08) Former North Texas golfers Brad Gibson and Anthony Broussard cashed and had top 20 finishes at the 38th Texas State Open at The Cascades. Gibson finished in 11th place while Broussard, playing in his first tournament as a professional, placed 17th.

Gibson shot a four-round score of 6-under par 274. He played the first two rounds at 2-under par 68. Following a third-round of 71, Gibson rebounded to shoot his best round of the tournament at 3-under par 67.

Broussard shot a 3-under par 277 for the tournament with three of his four rounds under par. He opened with a 1-under 69, a second round of 2-under 68, and closed with a 1-under par 69.

The two former Mean Green greats competed in a deep field of 156 golfers, which was cut to 62 golfers following the second round.

Gibson was a member of the Sun Belt Conference Championship team in 2003 while Broussard just wrapped up his career at North Texas with all-conference honor’s following his senior season.
