Former Men's Golfer Passes Away
Former North Texas golfer Jason Lindgren passed away in his hometown of Midland, Texas Saturday. He was 29.
DENTON, Texas (7/18/12) - Former North Texas golfer Jason Lindgren passed away in his hometown of Midland, Texas Saturday. He was 29.
Lindgren played at North Texas from 2002-06, earning four varsity letters while playing for the Mean Green. He had six top-25 finishes in his career, including a seventh-place finish at the ASU Indian Classic in 2004.
The Midland, Texas native was a member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List, Dean's List, All-Academic Team and was also a GCAA All-American Scholar in his junior year.
"To lose someone at such a young age is a very hard thing to comprehend, but when we lose someone with the character, integrity and passion for life that Jason had it makes it especially difficult," Director of Athletics Rick Villarreal said. "He was a tremendous ambassador for this university and the news of his passing creates a heavy heart within the entire Mean Green family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
He was a four-year letterwinner in golf at Midland High School, a three-time Midland HS MVP and a two-year captain.
The rosary and visitation for Lindgren will take place Thurs., July 19, at 6:00 p.m. The funeral is Fri., July 20, at 10:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Denton, located at 2255 N. Bonnie Brae.
