DENTON, Texas - North Texas men's golf has landed another big-time talent as Ty Spinella has transferred from Arkansas to play for the Mean Green. Spinella will be eligible this coming season for North Texas
A home-schooled student-athlete out of high school in Aledo, Texas, Spinella was a member of both the AJGA and the TJGT. In addition, Spinella is a two time winner on the AJGA circuit.
In 2007 Spinella won the Boys Division of the Lockton/Capitol Federal Kansas City Junior championship by three strokes. As a player, Spinella was ranked in the top 50 in the Polo Junior Golf rankings as a senior. He played in the Western Junior Amateur at Sea Island, Ga., making the cut.
Last season at Arkansas he competed in three tournaments after redshirting his freshman year in 2008-09.
Spinella will be a sophomore and has three years of eligibility remaining at North Texas.
