Mean Green Golf Releases 2018-19 Schedule
UNT Men Will Host First Tournament at Maridoe Golf Club
DENTON - The schedule for the 2018-19 North Texas men's golf program was released Monday, head coach Brad Stracke announced.
The slate features several familiar tournaments, as well as the inaugural tournament at UNT's state-of-the-art home course, the Maridoe Golf Club, from Oct. 6-8.
"We are excited about this year's schedule," Stracke said. "Our strength of schedule will be ranked around the top 50 in the country. Hosting an event at Maridoe will give our fans an opportunity to watch us play locally at one of the best golf courses in the country."
In all, six of the nine tournaments before the Conference USA Championship on April 21-23 at Texarkana Country Club will be return trips from last season.
The Mean Green will open up the season on Sept. 10-11 at TPC San Antonio in the UTSA Lone Star tournament before playing locally for two straight tournaments starting with a return appearance at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU, on Sept. 23-25.
Following the Maridoe Invitational, the Mean Green will wrap up the fall schedule at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Florida.
The spring season kicks off Feb. 17-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston before a trip to the General Hackler Championship on March 11-12 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Conway, South Carolina. The following week is a return trip to the N.I.T. at the Omni Tucson in Arizona and two more return trips to The Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and the Aggie Invitational in Bryan on March 31-April 1 and April 6-8, respectively.
Following the C-USA Championship, UNT will hope to have representation in the NCAA Regionals May 12-15 and the NCAA Finals May 25-30 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Last season, Ian Snyman advanced to the regional for the third time in his career.
