Cazaubon And Ortiz Begin Play At NCAA Regional Today




SEATTLE, Wash - The journey contiues for North Texas freshman golfers Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz as they open play today at the NCAA Regional. The pair tees off their quest for a berth in the NCAA Championship at 11:40 a.m. central time as they look to conquer the 7,100 yard Gold Mountain Golf Club course.

Both players earned invitations to participate in the regional following stellar seasons that ended with Cazaubon being named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and Ortiz earning all-conference honors.

Cazaubon is coming off a second place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championship and has the lowest stroke average, 72.75, in seven seasons at North Texas.

Ortiz posted the third lowest round in the nation this season with an 8-under par 64 at the SBC Championship.

North Texas is the only team in the nation with two true freshman individual players participating in a NCAA Regional.
