PULLMAN, Wash. – It was a tough day for the North Texas men’s golf team as they posted a second round of 12-over par 300 and dropped into 12th place after 36 holes of the NCAA Pullman Regional Tournament. The Mean Green didn’t have a player under par on the day as they fell to 1-over par for the tournament.
North Texas must make up 14 strokes tomorrow to catch the fifth place teams Pacific and San Diego State in hopes of advancing to the NCAA Finals. The top five teams advance out of the regional field to the championship round.
Senior Rodolfo Cazaubon had the best round of the day at 1-over par 73 and he is tied for 25th place. Cazaubon had three birdies on the day as he is 3-under par for the tournament at 141.
Fellow senior Carlos Ortiz shot a 2-over par 74 on the day and he is tied for 43rd place. He is 1-over par at 145 for the regional.
Marco Scarola struggled all day after shooting a career-low round of 66 the prior day. Scarola posted a second round of 80 and fell into a tie for 50th place. Curtis Donahoe is also in 49th place after shooting a 74. The pair is at 2-over for the tournament at 146.
Jason Roets fired a second round of 7-over 79 and he is at 159 for the regional. No. 1 Cal leads the field after two rounds with a score of 35-under par.
