Cazaubon And Ortiz Selected To Play In NCAA Regional Tournament

DENTON, Texas- Perhaps the best freshman pair in North Texas history, Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz, will have their seasons continue as they both have been selected to play as individuals in the NCAA Men's Golf Regional. Cazaubon and Ortiz were both picked to play at the Gold Mountain Golf Club regional site in Bremerton, Wash.

Cazaubon and Ortiz, ranked 142nd and 226th in the nation, are playing for two individual qualifying spots into the NCAA Championship. The top-five teams earn spots into the national championship and the next two individuals not on one of those top five teams advance to the NCAA Championship.

Both North Texas golfers were All-Sun Belt selections two weeks ago at the SBC Championship and Cazaubon was the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year. He had the lowest stroke average at 72.75 for North Texas in seven seasons.

Meanwhile Ortiz turned in a 64 in the opening round at the SBC Championship, which is tied for the third lowest in the nation this season.

The two will play three rounds of starting May 20-22.
