Mean Green Trio Earn Austin Regional Spots
Rosenmueller, Snyman and Churchman Set To Compete Individually In Austin
INDIANAPOLIS - Three Mean Green golfers will be competing in the NCAA Regional in Austin from May 15-17. Though the team was ineligible to qualify due to the NCAA's .500 rule that dictates a team must be over .500 on the season to qualify for team competition, senior Cory Churchman, and sophomores Ian Snyman and Thomas Rosenmueller will all be competing individually in Austin at the UT Golf Club.
The trio were also all named all-conference performers by Conference USA on Thursday.
"It's an honor to have three guys make it to regionals," head coach Brad Stracke said. "This might be a first to have that many players off one team qualify for regionals individually."
Snyman, who was named to C-USA's first team, had the Mean Green’s best round on the season (67) and an impressive fourth place finish at the Wolf Run Intercolliegate. Snyman, last year's C-USA Freshman of the Year, led the team in scoring average this season at 73.35.
Churchman, who was just named North Texas' Male Student-Athlete of the Year at the inaugural Scrappys and earned All-C-USA Second Team honors, averaged a single round score of 73.65 on the season, and was the team's highest finisher at the Conference USA Championship last month, tying for second at even par.
Rosenmueller, who was named to the conference's second team, averaged a single round score of 73.45 in 2016-17, and finished in a tie for seventh at the C-USA Championship in April.
