Ortiz Shoots A Final Round 70

IOWA CITY, Iowa - In the final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship the No. 38 North Texas men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Hawkeye-TaylorMade Invitational. The Mean Green shot a final round of 295 but fell from third to fifth as No. 11 Iowa vaulted to the top of the leaderboard to win by 10 strokes over the Mean Green.

Carlos Ortiz had the best round of the day for North Texas and finished alone in third place. He shot a 2-under par 70 and was nearly flawless with three birdies and only one bogey, which came on the final hole.

Ty Spinella and Rodolfo Cazaubon both had top-20 finishes as Spinella had his second straight round of 75 to finish in 15th place while Cazaubon fired an even-par round of 72.

Curtis Donahoe carded a final round of 78 and Josh Jones shot a 79. The Mean Green as a team shot a 599 during the two rounds.

North Texas returns to action at the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 25-27.
