SBC Golf Championship Begins On Monday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. ‑ The 2005 Aropostale Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will get underway on Monday at the PGA Village. The three‑round event, which will continue on Tuesday and conclude Wednesday, begins at 8 a.m. each day.

The North Texas men’s team will be going after its 28th conference championship in school history and its second Sun Belt Conference title. Freshman Anthony Broussard leads the Mean Green with a stroke average of 74.7.


On the women’s side North Texas is going after its first conference championship since joining the Sun Belt Conference. The Mean Green has won two tournament championships and notched seven top five finishes this season. Junior Andra Lancaster leads North Texas with a team-best stroke average of 77.6.


Each day will consist of 18 holes. The men will play at the North Course, while the women will compete on the Dye. The Golf Channel will be in attendance and will air highlights on its weekly college golf show ‑ Golf Central ‑ on Wednesday.


Also, fans will be able to see a tournament recap via webcast on XOS.


The show will be offered on and be available from April 28 until April 30.


New Mexico State is the defending men’s champion while Denver is the defending champion on the women’s side.
