SBC Golf Championship Set To Begin On Monday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (4/16/06) - The 2006 Aropostale Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will get underway on Monday at the PGA Village. The three‑round event, which will continue on Tuesday and conclude Wednesday, begins at 8 a.m. each day. 


The North Texas men’s team will be going after its 28th conference championship in school history and are led by sophomore Anthony Broussard who has posted a team-best stroke average of 73.7


The Mean Green is playing its best golf of the season coming off a season-low round of 276 at the Wyoming Classic.


On the women’s side North Texas is going after its first conference championship since joining the Sun Belt Conference. Senior Jaclyn Golden leads North Texas in stroke average a 77.4. The Mean Green has finished in fifth place or better in five or their last six tournaments entering the SBC Championship.


Each day will consist of 18 holes. The men will play at the North Course, while the women will compete on the Dye.



South Alabama is the defending men’s champion while Denver is the defending champion on the women’s side.
