Mean Green In The Hunt After The First Day

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/13/09) It was one of the best days of the season for the North Texas men’s golf team as they sit just six shots off the overall lead heading into the final round of the Red Wolf Classic.

The Mean Green is bunched in a group of six teams separated by six shots after 36 holes. North Texas shot scores of 293 and 294 and is alone in sixth place, trailing Arkansas State and Oral Roberts by six shots entering tomorrow’s final round.

The resurgence of Dustin Thompson continued as he shot a two-round score of even-par 144 and is tied for 8th place overall. Thompson was steady throughout and capped his day off with a 1-under par 71.

North Texas put three players into the top 20 through the first two-rounds as Harris Graham and Nathan Sheen had a solid opening day. Graham fired a 36-hole score of 146 which included a second round of 72 as he is in a tie for 16th place. Sheen was just one shot back with a 147 as he is tied for 19th place.
