North Texas Records Season-Low Score In Arkansas

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/14/09) It was the best tournament of the spring season for the North Texas men’s golf team as they fired a three-round score of 890 at the Red Wolf Classic. In the final tune-up before next week’s Sun Belt Conference Championship, the Mean Green finished in eighth place after a final round of 303. The 54-hole score of 890 was the lowest score recorded by North Texas this spring.

“We played a little bit better during this tournament and we have shown some signs of improving through the spring which is going to give us some momentum heading into the championship next week,” said coach Brad Stracke.

Junior Dustin Thompson led the way for the Mean Green with his third straight top 15 finish as he fired a 3-over par 219 for the tournament. Thompson closed with a final round of 75 to finish in a tie for 15th place.  

Senior Clarke Kincaid rebounded from a tough opening day with a final round 1-under par 71 to climb the leaderboard. He totaled a 222 for the tournament to finish in 24th place, his fifth straight top 25 finish of the year.

Harris Graham faltered in the final round with an 80 and finished tied with Nathan Sheen who shot a final round of 79. Graham and Sheen both shot a 226 for the tournament. 
Ben Hargis recorded a final round of 78 to post a three-round score of 230.

North Texas is back in action next week at the Sun Belt Conference Championship April 20-22.
