Donahoe Fires Season-Low Round Of 69

AUSTIN, Texas – Facing off against the nation’s best teams for a second straight week the No. 36 North Texas men’s golf team is in seventh place after two rounds at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The Mean Green shot a 1-over par second round and climbed in front of No. 25 Houston and No. 20 Kent State. 11 of the 12 teams in the field are ranked in the top-50 and six are in the top-25.

Senior Curtis Donahoe continued his strong play of late as he is tied for fourth place after the first two rounds. Donahoe was nearly flawless on the day as he is at 3-under par 139 after 36 holes. Donahoe had six birdies in two rounds one double bogey and only one bogey on the day.

He opened with a 1-under 70 and then followed that up with a season-low round of 2-under par 69. Donahoe is five strokes off the lead heading into the final round.  

Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz are both tied for 26th place at even-par after the first two rounds. The pair had rounds of 73 and 71 on the day. Cazaubon had six birdies on the day while Ortiz posted seven.

Gonzalo Rubio is tied for 54th place after shooting 76 and 74 while Jason Roets is in 65th place after shooting rounds of 80 and 76. Marco Scarola, playing as an individual, is tied for 41st place after 36 holes. He bounced back from an opening round of 76 to shoot an even-par score of 71.

There is a three-way tie for the lead after two rounds as No. 12 TCU, No. 4 New Mexico and No. 6 Texas sit atop the leaderboard at 6-under par. North Texas is at 9-over heading into the final rounds.
