Churchman And Cotton Notch Career Best Finishes
Mean Green Finish In Second Place In Final Tune-Up Before CUSA Championship
COLLEGE STATION -- In a final tune-up before the C-USA Championship, the North Texas men's golf team put four players in the top-15 and took home a second place finish at the Reveille Classic. The tournament, a 36-hole shootout played in one day, saw North Texas take a six stroke lead after the first round, but No. 40 Texas A&M rallied to top the Mean Green by six shots for the title.
Cory Churchman, Michael Cotton and Juan Munoz all finished in the top-10. Churchman notched a career-best finish as he ended alone third place. It in the second top-10 for his career. He posted an opening round of 3-under 69 and then an even-par round of 72.
Cotton finished tied for seventh place, his lowest career finish in his freshman with rounds of 71 and 73. Munoz was one stroke behind with a ninth place finish after shooting a 71 and 74. Jason Roets finished tied for 12th place after shooting rounds of 69 and 77. Nick Rodriguez ended in a tie for place after posting a 77 and 76.
North Texas did knock off another top-50 team as they defeated No. 35 Houston by 30 strokes. The Aggies shot a two-round score of 569 while the Mean Green finished with a 575, 1-under par.
North Texas plays in the Conference USA Championship April 26-29.
