McPherson Leads North Texas At Indian Classic

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/12/05) Senior Reid McPherson fired a team-best round of 73 to lead the North Texas men’s golf team at the ASU Indian Classic from the Ridge Point Country Club. North Texas fired a round of 297 as a team and finished tied for 11th place as the tournament was shortened to just one round due to weather.

“We were a lot more consistent today that we have been earlier in the year, which is an encouraging sign heading into the conference championship,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “Reid played really well for us and that’s good, because we need his senior leadership heading into the championship next week”.

McPherson finished tied for 24th place with his round of 1-over par. He closed strong as he ended the final nine holes with a 1-under par 35.

Freshman Raul Lemus shot a 2-over par 74 after an even-par score of 36 on the back nine holes. Fellow freshman Anthony Broussard was one shot behind with a round of 75.

Jason Lindgren finished tied with Broussard in 41st place with a score of 75 as well. Junior Andreas Kali fired a round of 79 and closed out tied for 68th place.

North Texas will now gear up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be played April 18-20.

The tournament will be played at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and the Mean Green will be gunning for the school’s 28th conference title and the school’s second Sun Belt Conference Championship.
