SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (4/8/08) Led by senior Anthony Broussard the North Texas men’s golf team continued its late season resurgence as the Mean Green finished tied for 6th place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. Broussard notched his third straight top 10 finish with a 4-under par 206 in the three rounds as he finished tied for 9th place.
His closing round of 69 was his third straight round of under par golf.
North Texas as a team shot a 2-over par 282 and posted a 7-over par 847 for its three rounds of play.
“I think we are starting to come together at the right time of the year and hopefully we can take this momentum into the conference tournament in two weeks,” said coach Jim Bob Jackson.
Freshman Michael Lee and Cole Howard both carded rounds of even-par 70 in the final round. Lee shot a 2-over par 212 for the tournament. Ben Smock was two shots behind with a 4-over par 214 while Howard ended the tournament with a 5-over par 215. Dustin Thompson rebounded after a difficult first day to shoot a 73 in the third round.
North Texas is off until the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 21-23 at Muscle Shoals, Ala.
