MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (3/31/08) Senior golfer Anthony Broussard continued with his strong play as he is just two-shots off the lead at 2-under par after the first day of the Aldila Intercollegiate to lead North Texas. After a late start due to inclement weather the North Texas men’s golf team found their stroke in the second round and sits 15 shots off the lead heading into the final round.
The Mean Green is alone in seventh place with a two-rounds score of 596.
North Texas shot a 3-over par 291 in the second round, which tied for the third best round of the day shot by the field of 11 teams at the Old Fort Golf Course.
Broussard shot an even-par 72 in the first round and followed that up with a 2-under par 70 in the second round and is two shots off the lead. He is alone in third place and trails Grant Leaver of Austin Peay by two shots.
Sophomore Dustin Thompson had one of his better rounds of the spring season in the second round with an even-par 72. Thompson is tied for 21st with a 150 after the first day. Senior Cole Howard is two shots back with a 152. He is tied with freshman Luis Lemus who fired a second round of 74. Ben Smock posted a 153 after a first round of 78 and a second round of 75.
Middle Tennessee carries a two-stroke lead into the final round of the tournament with a score of 581.
The final round of the Aldila Intercollegiate starts tomorrow at 8 a.m.
