LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The freshman duo of Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz notched top-10 finishes to lead North Texas to its third straight top-five finish with a score of 879 at the UALR/First Tee Classic. Cazaubon finished in second place while Ortiz was in a tie for ninth place as the Mean Green finished in fifth place in the field of 18 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the top 100.
North Texas dismantled the Sun Belt competition in the tournament, with Louisiana-Lafayette being the closest to the Mean Green at 23 shots back. The Mean Green's final round of 297 was the second best score of the day.
Cazaubon notched the best finish of his career with a final round of 2-under par 70 and finished 5-under for the tournament. Ortiz recorded his second straight round of 1-under par 71 and climbed the leaderboard into the top 10 with a score of 217. The ninth-place finish for Ortiz is his third straight top-10 finish.
Senior's Dustin Thompson and Peter Fallon both shot final rounds of 78 as Thompson was able to score of top-25 finish with a score of 224. Fallon shot a 227 for the tournament.
Freshman Curtis Donahoe posted a final round of 80 and shot a 235 for the tournament.
North Texas has finished in the top-five in six of the past seven tournaments dating back to the fall season.
The Mean Green has one final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Robert Kepler Invitational on hosted by Ohio State on April 10-11.
