Cazaubon Tied For Third After A Second Round 69, North Texas In Fifth Place

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Freshman Rodolfo Cazaubon kept rolling as he shot a 3-under par and is tied for third place to lead North Texas after the first day of the UALR/First Tee Classic. Cazaubon shot a second round of 69 and Mean Green is alone in fifth place in a field of 18 teams through 36 holes.

North Texas shot and opening round of 296 but cut 10 strokes off the second round with a 286 to post the Mean Green's best score of the spring season. North Texas is 10 shots behind the leader Missouri heading into the final round.

The Mean Green is ahead of the five other Sun Belt Conference schools in the field, beating UALR, ULM, ULL, Arkansas State, and Western Kentucky.  

Cazaubon opened with an even-par round of 72 and then notched his fifth sub-70 round of the year with a 3-under par score of 69. Freshman Carlos Ortiz and senior Dustin Thompson are both in the top 20 after strong second rounds. Ortiz shot a 2-under par 70 in his second round while Thompson carded a 1-under par 71. Both players are tied for 18th place with a two-round score of 146.

Senior Peter Fallon is tied for 30th. He opened with a 1-over par 73 and finished his second 18 holes with a 76. Freshman Curtis Donahoe posted rounds of 78 and 77 after 36 holes.

North Texas is going after its third straight top-five finish tomorrow as the final round begins with a shotgun start in the morning.
