North Texas Closes Out Play At The UALR Classic

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (3/29/05) On a windy final day of the UALR Trojan Cup Classic the North Texas men’s golf team fired a final round of 301 and finished in seventh place from the Chenal Country Club.

All five North Texas golfers finished within three shots of each other as the Mean Green were only three shots from a top five finish in the field of 16.

“We are slowly starting to make some progress as a team, but we still need to be more consistent on the course and not leave any shots out there,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “I think that these last two tournaments have given us a chance to gain some confidence and get some consistency heading into the final tournament before the conference championship”.

Freshman Raul Lemus finished tied for 24th with a three-round score of 226 after firing a final round of 77. Fellow freshman Anthony Broussard closed with a 76 and was one shot behind Lemus with a three-round score of 227.

Andreas Kali and Reid McPherson had the best rounds of the day for North Texas as the pair posted final round scores of 2-over par 74. Kali and McPherson ended tied for the tournament at 228, good for 32nd place.

Jason Lindgren shot a final round of 79 and notched a total of 229 for the tournament.

North Texas will have one final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the ASU Indian Classic, April 11-12.
