LAREDO, Tex. (3/26/05) Freshman Anthony Broussard fired a final round of 2-under par 70 to pace the North Texas men’s golf team in the final round of the Border Olympics from the Laredo Country Club.
Broussard’s round of 70 was his best round of the tournament and the third time this season he has fired a round of 70.
The Mean Green as a team finished in eighth place with a final round score of 298 and a three-round score of 890.
“We made some strides here but we still have a long way to go to get better before the conference tournament,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “Anthony (Broussard) played really well today and so did Jason (Lindgren). We just need our guys to go out and be more consistent for us and things will start to come together”.
Jason Lindgren shot a final round of 72 and finished tied for 15th with a three-round score of 220. Broussard was one stoke behind at 221 for the tournament and finished in 21st place.
Junior Andreas Kali shot a third round score of 78 and closed out the tournament tied for 26th place at 222.
Freshman Raul Lemus also shot a final round of 78 and finished at 232 while Reid McPherson had a third round score of 82 and 239 for the tournament.
North Texas returns to action on Monday, March 28 at the UALR Trojan Cup in Little Rock, Ark.
