LAREDO, Texas (3/14/09) Dustin Thompson returned to his all-conference form as he posted his best finish in two seasons to lead the North Texas men’s golf team at the Border Olympics. Thompson shot a final round of 3-over par 75 to card a three round score of 4-over par 220 and finish in eighth place, his third career top 10 finish.
Thompson has not had a top 10 finish in a tournament since his third place finish two seasons ago at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Despite Thompson’s efforts North Texas as team fell to 12th place with a final round of 307. Senior Clarke Kincaid had his best tournament of the season with a score 221 and an 11th place finish. Kincaid shot a 5-over par 77 in the final 18 holes and was just one stroke away from his first top 10 finish of the year.
Nathan Sheen shot final round of 80 while Harris Graham had his best 18 holes of the event with a 3-over par 75. Michel Lee had the toughest time of all with a third round score of 90.
North Texas has two weeks off before returning to action on March 30-31 at the Trojan Classic.
