Mean Green In Third After First Day In South Carolina

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Junior Cory Churchman and freshman Thomas Rosenmueller have put the North Texas men’s golf team within striking distance after the first day of the Colleton River Classic.

The Mean Green is alone in third place after two rounds, one shot behind second place Connecticut and 11 shots off the lead, held by the College of Charleston.

The Mean Green is one shot ahead of No. 42 Memphis and No. 45 Michigan State after two-rounds as five teams sit within 12 strokes of the lead.

Churchman is tied for ninth place after two-rounds at 3-over par. He shot an opening round of 1-over par 73 and followed that up with a 2-over par 74. Rosenmueller is two-shots back at 5-over par and tied for 14th place. He shot scores of 73 and 76 on the day.

Alejandro Villasana is tied for 28th place after back-to-back rounds of 4-over par 76. Ian Snyman is one shot behind and tied for 33rd after scores of 76 and 77 while Michael Cotton shot a 78 and 76 on the day. Nick Rodriguez, playing as an individual, is tied for 22nd place after a 73 and 78 on the day.
